Workshop Leader

Jess TeachingJessica Austin
Jessica Austin attends births, teaches Birth at Home prenatal classes, and trains doulas though Wise Woman Way of Birth.
My interest in miscarriage care deepened after studying with Molly-Dutton Kenny, a midwife who has dedicated much of her career to supporting families through loss and abortion, often at home. While of course in my career I had had clients experience miscarriage, I had always felt unprepared to support them in a helpful and meaningful way. Learning about holistic support for these experiences and incorporating the work into my practice made so many lightbulbs go off for me in terms of how to broaden the spectrum of my support for the families I serve. In the past few years I have supported many clients and friends through miscarriage in a much more effective and useful way than before, and have trained many other doulas to do the same!
